‘Aim High, Prepare to Achieve’

Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

We would like to welcome you to Year 5.  We are thrilled to be teaching some new exciting topics, alongside high quality and inspiring texts to capture and engage your imagination.

This year, sees the creation of two Year 5 classes, who will work in parallel, to deliver the highest quality teaching, educational and enrichment opportunities. Mrs Bunt continues to teach Year 5, ably supported by Jill and Maxine.  Mrs Charman and Mrs Jones are leading the second Year 5 class, ably supported by Sara.  We are all excited at working together this year.

For the Spring term, our topics will be:

  • Sow, Grow and Farm - This project teaches children about the features and characteristics of land use in agricultural regions across the world, including a detailed exploration of significant environmental areas. We will be looking at seasonal produce and cooking seasonal recipes.
  • Off with her Head!- this topic focuses on the Tudor period. We will learn more about Henry VIII and his family tree. As well as this, we will be looking into the architecture of the Tudor period, comparing London with Stratford then and now.
