RSC Associate School
Bishopton Primary School is an Associate School of the Royal Shakespeare Company which offers the pupils a wealth of opportunities and learning experiences.
Our school’s involvement with the RSC has provided opportunities for the children to be involved in an impressive range of projects: Dream 16 where Bishopton children performed on the main stage at the RST in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 2017 was Julius Caesar and the RSC associate schools’ promenade performance, Playmaking Festivals, performing in Romeo and Juliet at The Swan theatre, host to First Encounters rehearsals and over the last four years Bishopton pupils have seen over 15 performances at the RST.
The school has taken on board the practices of the RSC which encourage children to explore and understand the language of Shakespeare. Our commitment to the children’s development of rich language and experience a vital part of our local culture is through a yearly focus on one of Shakespeare’s plays which the whole school are involved in. Last year out focus was The Taming of the Shrew which ended with a powerful series of performances by all classes.
We have seen children find their voice through Shakespeare and the impact of the words and language they have experienced has allowed their ideas to flourish.
