It is never too early to start sharing books and stories with your child. There are so many reasons why reading aloud and sharing picture books are important for your child: enhancing communication, language development and improving cognition are just some. Reading every day will also enable you to bond with your child and have a positive impact on emotional well-being.
Reading tips!
- Share books every day.
- Get into character and be enthusiastic.
- Make up your own stories.
- Ask lots of questions about the pictures on the page.
- Ask your child to guess what might happen next.
- Read a calming bedtime story.
