Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

We are delighted to welcome you into Year 2. We have an exciting year planned ahead with lots of engaging topics and texts to explore. 

We have two Year 2 classes who will be working in parallel: 

Class 2T is taught by Miss Townsend and supported by Miss Morrison 

Class 2M is taught by Miss Maisey and supported by Jan. 

For the Spring Term our topics will be: 

Let's Explore the World where we will be looking at the story Paddington. We will be looking at materials in Science and using our knowledge of materials to then design and create a new bag for Paddington Bear. We will be learning all about Peru and using our knowledge of London to make comparisons between both locations. 

Movers and Shakers where we will be exploring some key figures relating to food. Our English text for the half term will be 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and we will be learning all about where cocoa beans come from and will be making our own chocolate bars. Through our exploration of our text we will also be looking at the illustrator 'Quentin Blake' and will be having a go at drawing in his style. We have also got an exciting trip planned to go and do some cooking ourselves!

What Do I Need To Remember?

Both Classes

Mathletics will be set on a Monday due to be completed by the following Monday.

Spelling tests will be every Friday, spellings have been sent home for the whole half term.

Spelling test sheets will be sent home each Friday and are due in the following Friday.
