Welcome to Year 4!
We would like to welcome you to Year 4. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead with engaging topics and some fantastic class texts as well!
We have two year 4 classes 4R is taught by Mrs Righton and supported by Katie, 4BH will be taught by Mrs Nero (Autumn term), Mrs Nero and Mrs Healey (Spring term) and Mrs Bunt and Mrs Healey (summer term) supported by Miss Kilminster.
For the Autumn term our topics will be:
I am Warrior! - during this topic the children will explore the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. We will explore the lasting legacy of the Roman's on Britain today.
Interconnected world - this topic has a geography skills focus looking at map reading using 4 and 6 digit grid references and using a compass. We will then learn about the physical and human geography of North and South America and the United Kingdom, including local and international transport networks.

Our Curriculum
WHAT DO I NEED TO REMEMBER?
Monday - spelling test (both classes)
Monday - reading books changed
Tuesday - Both classes PE day
Thursday - reading books changed, 4R library and maths homework due in (both classes).
Friday - 4BH library and new maths homework set.
Maths homework books have been handed out and homework is set weekly in line with learning in class . Children are expected to play at least 5 studio games on Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) a week.
It is important that your child brings their reading book and reading record into school every day as all children are heard read regularly in school. Children are also expected to read 3 times a week at home to increase their fluency and comprehension skills.
