Year 4

Welcome to Year 4! 

We would like to welcome you to Year 4. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead with engaging topics and some fantastic class texts as well! 

 

We have two year 4 classes 4N is taught by Mrs Nero and supported by Sharon, 4BH will be taught by Mrs Bunt (Mon, Tue, Wed) and Mrs Healey (Wed, Thurs, Fri) and supported by Katie. 

 

For the Autumn term our topics will be: 

 

Ancient Civilisations - during this topic the children will learn about the ancient Sumer, ancient Egypt and the Indus Valley civilisation. Children will learn about the rise, life, achievements and eventual end of each civilisation. 

 

Interconnected world - this topic has a geography skills focus looking at map reading using 4 and 6 digit grid references and using a compass. We will then learn about the physical and human geography of North and South America and the United Kingdom, including local and international transport networks.

Our Curriculum 

WHAT DO I NEED TO REMEMBER?

Monday - Spelling test (both classes) and new Spellings go home.

Thursday -  Maths homework due in (both classes). 

Friday - New Maths homework set.

 

Maths homework books have been handed out and homework is set weekly in line with learning in class . Children are expected to play at least 5 studio games on Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) a week. 

 

It is important that your child brings their reading book and reading record into school every day as all children are heard read regularly in school. Children are also expected to read 3 times a week at home to increase their fluency and comprehension skills.
