Governors
WELCOME TO OUR GOVERNORS' PAGE
The Governing Board at Bishopton Primary School plays a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and ensuring accountability. Governors work closely with school leaders to provide support and challenge, monitor performance, oversee safeguarding and promote the wellbeing of all pupils and staff. Their commitment helps ensure the school continues to provide a high-quality, inclusive education and remains at the heart of the local community.
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am very proud to be Chair of Governors at Bishopton Primary School. As a governing body we are a dedicated group of volunteers, who are committed to our role of providing support and guidance to the school as a whole, but in particular to Mrs. Charman and her leadership team.

We want to ensure that our children are provided with the right opportunities, in a safe and stimulating environment, to allow them to achieve to their highest potential. We provide support to the school by:
- Setting the strategic direction, agreeing policies and objectives.
- Monitoring performance and standards to ensure progress and attainment are continually improving to the highest levels for all pupils.
- Providing sound financial management which can demonstrate accountability and value for money so all pupils benefit from the best possible resources and environment in which to learn.
the interests and ethos of the school community. We are supported by and embrace all training opportunities to ensure we are up to date with current legislation and changes in education.
We also visit school formally once a term to spend time with staff and pupils to help see first-hand how the school is progressing towards its targets. Within this section of the website you will find:
- Full details of all members of the Governing Body
- Minutes of previous meetings
- Attendance at meetings
- Our terms of reference
We encourage the vital partnership between school and parents and as such welcome your feedback to enhance the teaching and learning in our school environment. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to find out more, or are interested in becoming a governor.
Best regards,
Sam Smith
