Free, age-appropriate mental health and mindfulness apps for primary school-aged students (typically ages 4–11) focus on self-regulation, emotional awareness, and breathing:
- Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame (Ages 4–8)
- What it does: Uses Sesame Street characters in interactive game formats to help young children calm down, breathe deeply, and problem-solve everyday frustrations (like struggling to tie shoes).
- Smiling Mind (Ages 3+)
-
- What it does: Developed by psychologists and educators, it offers guided meditations, mindfulness programs, and relaxation exercises designed specifically for children and families to build mental fitness.
- Chill Panda (Ages 6–12)
-
- What it does: Helps children manage stress and anxiety through breathing techniques, gentle games, and tracking how they feel.
- Cove (Ages 4+)
-
- What it does: Allows children to express complex emotions like joy, sadness, or anger by creating their own musical melodies and journals rather than trying to find the right words.
