Meet the Governors

Welcome to our Governors’ section

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

We have also provided a Register of Governor Interests and an Annual Statement of Issues for your information.

The governing body is committed to support the Headteacher and staff to provide our children with a high learning standard and help them to develop in a safe and nurturing environment.

Meetings take place once a term in either of two working groups. These sub-committees are Resources, including finance, and Performance and Standards. We then come together at a full governor meeting to discuss our findings.

Our responsibilities include:-

  • Setting the strategic direction, agreeing policies and objectives
  • Monitoring the curriculum
  • Approving the school budget
  • Monitoring Performance and Standards to ensure progress and attainment
  • Appointing and supporting the Headteacher
  • Visiting the school to observe the school and children at work

We attend training sessions and meetings to help us keep up to date with changes in education and to help us do our job effectively. We also go into school to meet with the Headteacher, other members of staff and pupils to help find out how the school is progressing towards its targets outlined in the schools Learning Improvement Plan - LIP.

There are different categories of governor that are appointed. These are:

  1. Co-opted governors - appointed by the governing body.
  2. Local Authority governor - appointed by the Local Authority
  3. Parent governors - voted for by parents/carers
  4. Staff governor - voted for by members of staff

If you wish to know more, or are interested in becoming a governor, please contact us via the school office.

We encourage the vital partnership between school and home, and as such, welcome any feedback that would enhance the teaching and learning in our school environment.
